Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Entrepreneurship and Micro and Small Business Management Magazine welcomes original research articles, theoretical and conceptual papers, review articles, case studies, and other scholarly contributions related to entrepreneurship, micro and small businesses, management, innovation, business development, organizational studies, and related areas. Manuscripts submitted to the journal should make a clear academic contribution to the relevant field and should be written in a clear, concise, and scholarly manner. Submissions should not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication in another journal at the time of submission.

Manuscripts should be prepared in a standard academic format and submitted as an editable Microsoft Word document. The title should be concise and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. The manuscript should include the author(s)' full name, institutional affiliation, country, and email address. Where applicable, the corresponding author should be clearly identified. Authors should ensure that all information provided during submission is accurate and complete.

The manuscript should normally include an Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review or Theoretical Background, Research Methodology, Results and Findings, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. The exact structure may vary according to the nature of the manuscript and the requirements of the research design. The abstract should briefly present the purpose of the study, methodology, major findings, and principal conclusions. Authors should provide a suitable set of keywords that accurately represent the main themes and concepts addressed in the manuscript.

Research articles should clearly state the research problem, objectives or research questions, and, where appropriate, hypotheses. The methodology should provide sufficient information regarding the research design, population, sample, data collection procedures, measurement instruments, variables, and analytical techniques to enable readers to understand and assess the research process. For empirical studies, authors should present results accurately and distinguish between findings and their interpretation. Tables, figures, charts, and other illustrative materials should be appropriately numbered, titled, and referred to in the main text.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are written in appropriate academic English or in the language accepted by the journal. Manuscripts should be carefully proofread before submission for grammar, spelling, formatting, clarity, and consistency. Authors should avoid unnecessary repetition, excessive use of jargon, and unsupported claims. Quotations should be used appropriately, and all ideas, data, statements, and materials derived from other sources should be properly acknowledged.

All references cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every reference listed should be cited in the text. Authors should use a consistent scholarly referencing style throughout the manuscript and ensure that bibliographic information, including author names, publication year, title, journal or book details, volume, issue, page numbers, and DOI or other persistent identifiers where available, is accurate. Authors are encouraged to use recent and relevant scholarly literature while also citing foundational studies where appropriate.

Authors must ensure that their submission is original and that all sources, data, quotations, figures, tables, and other third-party materials have been appropriately acknowledged. Manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or substantial textual similarity. Where the study involves human participants, organizations, confidential information, or other ethical considerations, authors should provide appropriate information regarding ethical approval, informed consent, confidentiality, and data protection where applicable.

The journal follows a peer-review process for submitted manuscripts. Each manuscript is subject to an initial editorial assessment to determine its relevance to the journal's scope, basic scholarly quality, originality, and compliance with submission requirements. Manuscripts considered suitable for further evaluation may be sent for external peer review. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial or reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts should address the comments carefully and clearly indicate the changes made where requested.

Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research, interpretation of findings, or publication process. Sources of financial support, institutional support, or other relevant assistance should also be disclosed where applicable. Authors should ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made a meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript and have approved the final version submitted for consideration.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal during the submission and review process and should ensure that all co-authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission. Any changes to the authorship after submission should be communicated to the editorial office and may require confirmation from all affected authors.

After submission, authors should promptly respond to editorial communications and provide any additional information or documents requested by the editorial office. Authors are expected to cooperate with the peer-review and revision process and to carefully check the final version of the manuscript for accuracy before publication.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, that it has not been simultaneously submitted to another publication, that the information presented is accurate to the best of their knowledge, and that all necessary permissions and ethical requirements have been addressed. The editorial team reserves the right to make editorial decisions concerning the suitability, review, revision, and publication of submitted manuscripts in accordance with the journal's academic standards and scope.
